I built a mobile perfume guide that turns scent notes into personal suggestions
I wanted a calmer way to explore fragrance than scrolling a shop catalogue. I used ChatGPT to shape prompts and Codex to build Scentory, a mobile perfume discovery demo with a collection, scent profile, and local note-based suggestions. The finished app keeps its data local and uses fictional catalogue names and prices.
What made it work
- I used ChatGPT to develop prompts and Codex to vibe code.
- When the implementation did not match the illustrations ChatGPT created, I refined the prompts and tried again until the result matched my direction.

What’s left to make it real
The next step would be to add a small backend, such as a real perfume library and real-time updates to prices, perfumes, and other details.
- Made with
- ChatGPT, Codex, React, Vite, plain CSS
- How
- I used ChatGPT to develop the prompts and Codex to build the React and Vite app with plain CSS. I refined the prompts through several visual iterations, while localStorage keeps the demo collection and profile in the browser.
- The prompt
- Build a mobile-first perfume discovery app with a local catalogue, scent profile, collection, and transparent recommendation logic. Preserve a romantic, elegant visual style using soft pink, lavender, cream, and subtle gold accents; do not add a backend. In ChatGPT, Codex, React, Vite, plain CSSModel GPT-6 (Codex)
