MyCaddie — a simple golf club picker that adjusts for wind
MyCaddie is a simple golf caddie app that recommends which golf club to use based on the distance to the hole and the wind conditions. The user enters the distance, selects whether there is no wind, headwind or tailwind, and chooses the wind strength. MyCaddie then adjusts the effective distance and recommends a club based on the user's carry distances. Users can also customize and save their own carry distances for each club, so the recommendations can better match their own game. The goal was to make a lightweight tool that removes some of the guessing when choosing between clubs on the course.
What made it work
- The part that worked best was keeping the app very simple. The user only needs to enter a distance and wind conditions to get a recommendation.
- One of the harder parts was deciding how much the wind should affect the effective distance. I wanted the feature to be useful without pretending that the app is a fully accurate launch monitor or weather model.

What’s left to make it real
To make MyCaddie more useful on a real golf course, I would add: - GPS distance to the green - automatic live wind data - separate saved distances for each user - elevation and lie adjustments - smarter recommendations based on previous shots - better mobile/PWA support for use on the course

What additional factors would you add next without making the app too complicated?
